Where’s a good place to vacation over summer?

Q&A Chick asked:


I’m saving up for a summer vacation. I’m not really sure where to start searching for good and affordable vacation spots (I’m probably only going to be able to spend $3,000 max). This will be for a family of three, including myself.

The only preference I have is a that there would be a lot of sight-seeing and picture-taking. I’m trying to stray away from the “popular” places, so no France, Italy, or Hawaii suggestions please.
Also, a place with a hotel that would be fun to lounge around in (like with a spa, good view, jacuzzi, etc.) Yes, I do vacation to lounge around and relax in a hotel (if it is a nice one).

So with that, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Again, any place that may fit some or most of the requirements above will be considered.

    Pismo Beach and the hotel is called Pismo Hotel
    it has a jacuzzi and it’s walking distance to the beach.
