Where is the best hotel or resort to stay in Hawaii with kids aged 12-18?

We’d prefer something beautiful, tropical not city, but still with things to do. We are more of a shopping, dining and sightseeing type of family as opposed to an athletic type. But being on or close to a beach is a must!
