What are good travel websites?
Michelle asked:
I am planning a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii and I want to find a good website that offers great packages. Any one know of any sites? Has anyone actually used any to book online? Also does anyone recommend the Resortquest Waikiki beach hotel? Is that a good hotel to accomodate my two small children (ages 1 & 5).

vacationtogo.com is a good one orbitz, and there are a few others..i was planning a hawaiin vacation myself, and after much debate (with myself) i think im going to have to skip it, although the scenery is wondrous, ive learned that the crowds are attrocious , crime is up especially on the big island, trash such as junked cars are just sitting around?..left to rot..ruining the natural beauty in some places..and being that we were planning a christmas vacation guess what..even though its one of the busiest times in hawaii..its also the wettest!!…tours are outragously expensive and in winter months the surg is up which makes it hard for swimming..especially on the north shore..so be careful with little ones..We just got back from cozumel a few weeks ago..i think we might go back..spend a few more days to take everything in…good luck..be sure to do some research about where your going…molokei is where we were wanting to go..not as busy as all the otehrs, but beautiful all the same

Aloha! If you’re going to go to Hawaii, buy from where Kama’aina buy travel. Hawaii still has quite a bit of older style travel agencies that are converting over to click and mortar, which with the rise of large OTA’s, you really don’t see any more.
Probably the largest supplier in the islands is Panda Travel or pandaonline.com. You can buy online or you still have the ability to talk to a live, local travel agent sitting in the middle of Honolulu.
Don’t forget the Airlines – Visit Hawaiianair.com or Alohaairlines.com to see what the latest deals on are are. You have the ability to book travel packages as well.
Finally, everyone’s favorite paradise tour operator Pleasant Holidays is still around and if you’re lucky, you can swing a deal on some select travel dates. Pleasant buys significan’t amounts of block space on United airlines and if they don’t fill the planes up on the travel days, they liquidate at really low prices.
Sure you can go to expedia, travelocity, or Orbitz, but when it comes down to support after the sale, its best to make sure you have land contacts in Hawaii. So, buy local, buy Hawaiian!

I don’t know which websites are best but I do have suggestions for your children. if you are going for the summer the ResortQuest has a Keiki (kids) program. they take the kids for the day or half day. it’s a great program for kids, only thing is that they only take 5-12 year olds. your 1 year old will have to have a sitter (available at most hotels) accompany them or you have to stay with him/her. usually it is ok with an adult and the activities are fun and about hawaii. if you are not going during peak summer time then the Westin Moana Sheraton will take kids even if you are not staying at that hotel. Hope you and your kids have fun visiting!

Check out Kayak.com for flight deals.
Tripadvisor.com is a great site for researching your trip. It has guest reviews and guest photographs of most hotels. The photo part is really nice because you can see the hotel the way it really is, not the way the hotel wants you to think it is. If you find a hotel you like, it provides links to the major travel sites like Expedia. You can also Google the hotel name to find other booking sites.
