Ideas about Hawaiian vacations for couple plus a toddler under 2?

My boyfriend and myself have planned a vacation to Hawaii for May 2010 for ourselves and our year and a half old son. We have not booked anything and wonder what islands and hotels offer more kid-friendly services. We were hoping to learn to surf, but we would have to learn individually at different times so one of us can stay with our son. We want to have a good vacation and experience anything Hawaii has to offer, but something our son can enjoy too. I’ve checked the normal vacation deal sites, and they have a lot, but it’s mainly for adults.
