Real nice rooms start at $250. Maui or The Big Island of Hawaii would be better for rest.Wailea Maui has several real nice Hotels, Grand Wailea being the nicest. Big Island's Waikaloa area is the premier location there, several real nice hotels. Ritz Carlton & Kapalua Bay Hotel on Maui are relaxing also. gohawaii.com is the Hawaii Visitor's Bureau's site.

Based on the "R&R" in your question I'm assuming that you are military. For military and dependets the absolute two best choices are the Hale Koa-a military only hotel right on Waikiki beach. Rates are based on rank and range from $79-$224 dollars a night. the website is and reservations can be made online. However reservations are sometimes difficult to get and need to be made well in advance. If your husband is returning from Iraq, you may be able to get a 20% discount off those rates. The hotel is absolutely beutiful with some of the best features of any hotel in Hawaii. The other choice is KMC-Kilauea Military Camp whic is inside Volcano's National Park on the Big Island. Not very close to the beach, but an absolutely unique experience, and very relaxing. The website is. rates are from $63-$204a night and reservatins can be made online at the website. One more much lesser known spot is the Waianae Army Recreation Center which is right on the beach and pretty private and isolated. There are also cabins available at Bellows beach. go to for a whole lot more options.
Hope this helps you out. If I misunderstood and you are not military, thenthere are a lot of oyher options out there, look on the internet and there are a wealth of options.

First off, as I lived there and my family has been on the islands for many many years, I can't recommend a hotel. What I can suggest is to NOT go to Oahu. Try Maui or maybe even the Big Island. Hilo or Kona area on the Big Island. Most 1st time tourists do Oahu and while there is plenty to see and do it is very crowded. If you want the peacefulness with out the headaches go to Maui. A good balance would be the Big Island. Enjoy your stay. I hope to get back there again soon.

That's a tough one. I would love to find the same thing. I would definitely rule out anything on Oahu; I have been there 6 times, and have found nothing but the floral bedding and tons of tourists.

I'm from Oahu but when I went to the big island there was this hotel called the Hilton Waikaloa and that was really nice. It had dolphins you could swim with, but that may be too much for you budget. Hilton Hawaiian Village on Oahu is also nice and that should be in your budget. i've never seen marble floors unless it's a suite or something.
