The other places that people have mentioned are either a long way away from UH Manoa (Turtle Bay is a great place to vacation, but not a good drop off place for UH) or very expensive (Kahala Hotel). There are actually just 3: Marriott at Ko'Olina on Southwest side of Oahu Turtle Bay Resort in very north shore.of Oahu Kahala on Southeast side of Oahu, but still very close to Honolulu Of those 3, Turtle Bay Resort will likely have the best prices, followed by the Marriott and the Kahala is very expensive. I would call the resorts directly and ask them if they have any discounts for your situation. (university discounts, parent discounts, etc.) I've stayed at the Turtle Bay Resort and loved it. All their rooms have ocean view and the resort is about as close to the beach as you can possibly get. It is beautiful there and very far away from the crowds in Waikiki.
