I took my granddaughter when she was eight (in 2006) and we stayed at the Miramar in Honolulu. I think it’s a 2-star or maybe a 3-star. Clean and comfortable.

It’s about two blocks from the beach, has a fun glass elevator, a nice swimming pool, and good views from the rooms. The breakfast buffet was included in the price of the room (a travel agent can fix this up for you), and it was excellent!

It’s next door to the International Market Place, a fun place to wander around in. It’s also near the breakwater built on Waikiki Beach, which breaks the waves and provides a calm place to swim without being beaten to death by the ocean!

The Bus route is also nearby, and this goes all over Honolulu as well as around the island, a nice journey.

You can go on Trip Advisor and look up hotels in Honolulu with reviews and prices. You can also get good deals for packages (hotel, air & airport transportation) at Pleasant Holidays.

Have a great trip! It’s a lovely state. Aloha!

every time people visit i recommend they use to book their stay. the site is an aggregator which means it takes offers from various online sites and shows you the best deals. good luck

We were very happy with our stay at the Raddison Prince Kuhio 2 years ago it was a short walk to the beach and the rooms were clean and tidy. I think we got a special rate about $140 at the time but recently it has been much more ($250+)

Our friends stayed at a much cheaper hotel (a little run down, the windows were the old plastic slat shades totally safe but a little ugly) But were happy that they didn’t spend much on the room and had more money to play with. If you don’t plan on staying in your room much at all except to crash after a day out then this might be a good choice. If it is good enough for the locals it’s good enough for me! Plus it is on the quieter side of waikiki right next to the zoo!

Where ever you decide remember a couple things. None of the hotels are as nice as they look…in pictures, most of them are a bit outdated and maybe a little musty smelling (tropical!) Elevators are SLOW, I read that a lot before going and it was true, but never bothered us. We were never in a hurry!

    Have fun!

Go Snorkling!! So easy there and so fun!
