Can you recommend a good hotel in O’hau, Hawaii, mid range price, top service, pool, near beach and romantic?
salsabooty asked:
My husband and I (mid thirties) will be visting O’ahu, Hawaii for the first time in June. We will be staying for 2 weeks and need to book our hotel ASAP. We’ve looked at the guide books and several review sites for inspiration, but nothing has been very useful in helping us to decide. We have a budget of about $150-200 per night. We aren’t pretentious, but like things to be comfortable. Our only must have is a pool on the premises. We would like tro try and avoid any hotels that are still under reconstruction. We don’t want to be too far from the ‘action’, but we don’ want to be on top of it all either. Oh and I forgot to mention – this trip is part of our honeymoon so we’d like it to be at least a little romantic. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thank you.

First off, congratulations!
As for a hotel suggestion, almost all of the hotels in Waikiki have a pool. Some are more elaborate than others but most all of them have one. As long as you are in Waikiki you’ll be near the beach too.
As for the other things (mid range, top service, romantic), I would suggest you check out the Waikiki Beach Marriot (http://www.marriottwaikiki.com/). It’s a bit more than you have budgeted but it’s well worth it. They are running a special right now I believe where you stay 3 nights and get the 4th free so you might come out within your budget anyway.
Another suggestion would be to check out the Sheraton family (http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/index.html). That family will provide you with top notch service, is very near the beach, and is near to your price range.
Another less expensive but still clean and nice are the Outrigger family of hotels. This chain are known to be nice but not extravagant and on the lower end of the rate scale (http://www.outrigger.com/). The service will be a bit better in some of the bigger hotels as far as services goes but customer service is the same across the board in the major Waikiki hotels.
If I had to choose between these hotels, I would go with the Sheraton chain, especially their flagship hotel which is the Sheraton Waikiki. That hotel is right on the beach and provides excellent service (my wedding reception was actually held there and it was wonderfully romantic).
Good luck in finding something that fits your needs and once again, congratulations!
