Any Honeymoon Ideas in tropical location?

Happy Girl asked:

My Fiance and I are trying to find out a place to go on our honeymoon. this is what we’re looking for in our honeymoon spot:

-Tropical / Warm / Beautiful Blue water
-Great resort / hotels to stay in
-Not a popular vacation spot (our wedding is in August so we want minimal vacationers ie: not popular spot in Hawaii or the carribean)
-Cruise preferred to get to location and back. We can port from anywhere on the west coast
-Quite
-Romantic
-Exciting attractions or activities

If you know of a place like this please let us know! :-) We considered the typical places, but this is where most of our wedding money is going to. We want to splurge on an unforgetable, once in a lifetime vacation.

Thanks for the help!

Honestly, I’ve been to LOTS of tropical places, and the best is Hawaii. Coincidentally, Mexico and Hawaii are about the only places you can sail to from the west coast. Now, if you choose to go to Hawaii, you don’t have to go to Waikiki or the Big Island. You can go to Maui or one of the other smaller islands that are more secluded. The majority of Maui is protected national forest, so there aren’t NEAR as many hotels there. Kuai is also beautiful, and not near as populated. If you’re looking into Mexico, I think just about anywhere along the Mexican Riviera would be fine, but Hawaii is MUCH more beautiful. If your hearts are not set on taking a cruise there, then go to Bora Bora or another part of Tahiti. It’s expensive, but it’s AMAZING! You can get your own private cabin on the water with a glass coffee table so you can watch the fish swim below you. I hope this helps! Good luck and CONGRATS!!!

We went to Maui from August 18-29th. It wasn’t bad at all as far as tourists go! We ran into a few other honeymooners on our different activities, which was fun. We stayed in Kaanapali, at Royal Lahaina Resort. It was very romantic and quiet; peaceful. There are TONS of activities to do, and if you have the money to splurge, I definitely recommend doing as much as you can. My husband and I had the same mentality as you; go big as this would be the only honeymoon we’d ever go on!

We didn’t want to leave…and can’t wait to go back!

I would go to Fiji. Perhaps you could sail there from New Zealand or Australia? You’d have to fly there of course, but it would be an unforgettable vacation!
The only places you can cruise to from the west coast would be Hawaii or Mexico. Mexico wouldn’t be bad, but the places that you would port to would be pretty crowded, I’d imagine.
    Congrats on the wedding.

My sister went to Thailand, and she said it was amazing there. I don’t have any of the details though, and very highly doubt you can get a cruise there, but it was gorgeous….

Small Hope Bay Lodge, its on Andros Island in the Bahamas.

It tropical and it will be all about you and your new hubby! Or try some of the the islands in the Bahamas. Many are very secluded.

    CONGRATS!!

I know you said you don’t want Hawaii, but it’s really not crowded if you go to the other islands (NOT Oahu). Go to Kauai or Maui and it’s really nice. Lots to do. Nice hotels.
