• The Great Pyramids – This is the top of anyone’s list when coming to Egypt. I mean, you can’t tell anyone you’ve been to Egypt but not seen the pyramids, right? You can take a private tour to the Sphinx as well. Whatever you do, make sure you check out these 3 pyramids FIRSt – Khafre, Cheops and Menakaure. While you can take pictures outside the pyramids, I highly recommend that you pay the entrance fee and check out the insides as well.
• Cruise along the River Nile – While the River Nile is a popular tourist attraction world over, not many people actually realize that the best is really the Egypt cruise down the River Nile. When you are in the country, one of the many things to do in Egypt will be taking a cruise down the River Nile. As with the pyramids, you can request for a guided tour should you want to, but even a regular cruise down the Nile will take your breath away. Generally, the cruise will be for a period of few days and they include meals. However, due to its popularity, you need to make sure to make your bookings in advanced, preferably through your travel agent when you make your travel plans.
• Egyptian museum – Egyptian museums are famous around the world thanks to its mysterious and rich ancient history. Cairo has one of the best museums in the world with its amazing collection of antiques and artifacts from early Egyptian civilization.
• Valley of the Kings – One of the grandest place in Egypt, the Valley of the Kings is – as it name suggests – full of ancient Egyptian’s history and more importantly, the final resting place of so many Pharaohs. It is difficult not to get overwhelmed with feelings of awe when visiting this almost magical place. Here you will find the tombs of Kings and Nobles from 16th to 11th century BC. There are two valleys here the East Valley and the West valley. You will find most of the tombs of the royals in the east Valley.
Apart from going sightseeing, there are other things to do in Egypt. If you are a food maniac, then let me tell you this – be prepared to gain a few pounds very quickly.
Egypt is also a great place to shop, with so many shopping malls filled with incredible deals. If you have a shopaholic spouse, child or friend traveling with you, be prepared to get stuck in the malls for many hours, which really isn’t a bad thing.
As mentioned at the start, Egypt is a wonderful tourist destination for anyone, whether you plan to travel solo or with family and friends. There is something for everyone, and you will return home with a wondrous feeling.
